Dashiki High Low Skirt Matches Hand Bag
I had the privilege to visit my homeland Ghana for 6 weeks in July 2016 and my life has not been the same ever since.
Ghana, Ghana, Ghana oh Ghana! I was born and raised in Ghana and although I have visited Ghana in the past, this visit was exceptional. I went with joy in my heart and returned in joy.
Ghana is so rich in many things that I noticed and appreciated more during this visit.
I enjoyed all the foods like “waatshe, “fufu with kontomre soup”, “kokonte” and many more. On our way to visit my home town Peki, I could not wait to reach Senchi so that I could eat some “adode” or roasted oysters on a stick.
Being a lover of textiles, I took special interest in the Angelina print fabric which many call Dashiki. This kind of fabric has been around before I was born and when we were little, my Dad bought some “pata pata” clothes made out of this fabric for us. Although I did not take much interest in this kind of fabric when I was growing up in Ghana, I saw it in a new light during my visit.
My visit was crowned with having 4 hairdressers braid my hair in 5 hours for only $15.00. Ghana is the total BOMB everyone must visit!
I am planning my next visit. Contact me if you would like to go.
I purchased a number of Angelina fabrics during my visit and I designed and made the high low skirt and matching hand bag which I absolutely love.
Everything you see under Ghana Authentics is a reflection of my love for Ghana combined with my passion for design.
